1st shot1st shot

The 180 Degree Rule is when there is an imaginary line inebwteen the subject(s) which the camera cannot cross so that the left/right relationship between the subject(s) stays in order. For example the lady pushing the pram above is recorded from the right hand side but as soon as shes recorded from the left hand side it looks as if shes walking in the complete opposite direction when recorded from the right. If the camera crosses the imaginary line then it can cause confusion to the viewer which leaves them puzzled rather than enjoying the actual film.

The 180 Degree rule gives the effect that everythings happening in relation to one another rather than everything being shot seperatley from dfferent directions.
